What is HIFU?

HIFU is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.

Is Hifu an incisional or invasive surgery?

No HIFU is 100% a non-invasive procedure that addresses the skin and support layers below it, It doesn’t involve cutting or disturbing the surface of the skin.

Is HIFU the alternative of Facelift surgery?

Is There Any Downtime in the process?

Who Is Suitable For Treatment?

The good candidate is someone who is aged 30+ and has noticed that the skin on their face or neck has become laxer and wishes to lift and tighten the relevant area. For patients in their 30s, it is typically used to stimulate collagen production and hence help delay the ageing process. Patients who are in their 40s and 50s are the most common age group who can have this treatment. The treatment is also suitable for those aged 60+ provided the degree of laxity is not too much. HIFU can also be done on people who have already gone through surgery for a facelift and are not quite happy with the results, HIFU will help in prolonging the effects of surgical facelifts.

How Long Until I See Results?

Some patients may see the initial effect instantly, but ultimately lifting and firming will take place over approximately 2-3 months, as the collagen is renewed and replaced with new, stronger collagen. Is HIFU Permanent?

Does the process hurt?

The process doesn’t include any incision or use of anaesthesia which makes it painless. But there can be a slight aching over bony areas or a warm sensation in the skin during treatment.

Side Effects of HIFU?

Accoriding to the doctors and to the research done by Korean doctors in 2015, When asked about adverse effects, there were six patients with erythema and swelling, and two patients with purpura and bruising. However, these resolved within 2 weeks without any permanent complications. No serious adverse events, including neuralgia, nerve palsy, severe oedema
